Ishtar

a new production based on Grand Guignol

We are currently working on the creation of a piece which explores the darker side of human nature and
how an audience can be made complicit in the action.
Mark Reid is heading the creative process of this
stylised, horror piece inspired by the work that used to go on at Theatre du Grand Guignol - where
macabre pieces formed the centre of an evening of performances.

The piece is being developed in three stages, the last of which will end in a full London production in
October 2009.

DEVELOPMENT STAGE 1

Daughters of Ishtar at our Freestyle Performances

"Daughters of Ishtar" was shown at our Freestyle Performances 2008 in order to test how some of the techniques used in this old-fashioned theatre form can be adapted into a contemporary production.

DEVELOPEMENT STAGE 2

Ishtar Educational Package

In order to experiment with the
style of the piece in front of an
audience, the Ensemble toured
"Ishtar", a 20 minute piece, to
+16 students.

The performance formed the
centre of a 3 hour Educational
Package during which the
students learnt some of the
techniques used in our
piece, discussed the
performance and
created their own work.
